Meet Kenichi

Hello, I'm Kenichi Kiyama, and welcome to Kiyama Bodyworks. My journey has been shaped by a unique fusion of movement and wellness, guided by a deep-rooted family tradition in martial arts and holistic health.

A Foundation in Healing Arts:

From a young age, I was immersed in the world of physical well-being, thanks to my father, a renowned acupuncturist, and my introduction to Sotai. This traditional Japanese movement therapy, developed by Dr. Keizo Hashimoto, emphasizes the body's natural ability to restore balance through gentle, guided movements. My father's expertise and teachings laid the groundwork for my practice, blending ancient techniques with a modern understanding of the body.

The Path to Sotai:

Through my experiences as both a martial artist and professional violinist, I've faced numerous injuries and physical challenges. This firsthand knowledge of the strain that both athletic and artistic pursuits place on the body inspired me to explore holistic approaches to recovery and performance. Sotai became a central part of my philosophy, offering a gentle, accessible way to re-educate the body and alleviate pain.

A Balanced Perspective:

At Kiyama Bodyworks, I integrate the principles of Sotai with my broader knowledge of movement and wellness. Whether you're an athlete, musician, or simply someone seeking relief from everyday tension, my goal is to guide you toward a healthier, more balanced body through tailored movement techniques.

Who taught me?

My introduction to Sotai came from my father, Daniel Ichiro Kiyama, L.Ac., who operates an acupuncture clinic in California. His expertise in traditional healing practices laid the foundation for my own studies and work in the field of bodywork and wellness.
